Theoretical-Practical Program

2D and 3D diagnosis in orthodontics. The Contribution of the CBCT

  • Know the difference between 2D vs 3D diagnosis.
  • Protocols for making good radiographic records.
  • Contribution of the CBCT (3D diagnoses) in transverse problems of the maxilla, in the mandibular position and in the teeth (canines included, cortical of the lower incisor, among others).

Objective: Know the protocols and techniques to perform good panoramic, lateral and CBCT radiographs in order to make a good diagnosis by the orthodontist.

Practice: Students will be shown live how a CBCT is performed with the different fields of vision and the ideal protocols for a 3D orthodontic study.

  • Components of a photographic camera How to master the manual mode?
  • Techniques for taking good intra and extraoral photographs.

Objective: Management of a photographic camera independently, controlling the necessary parameters to obtain orthodontic photographs with good quality for diagnosis. Students will learn the technique and clinical tips for taking intra and extraoral photographs, as well as the preparation of photographic templates.

Practice: Photography with a Reflex camera and a 100mm macro lens: Live session with external flashes and ring flash.

Intraoral scanner: How to improve the accuracy of our records in Orthodontics

Goals: Learn to handle an intraoral scanner smoothly and accurately and minimize the time spent taking records.

3D Printing in Orthodontics: Learn to print accurate 100% models

  • Types of 3D Printers.
  • Parameter calibration.
  • Management of free laminate software.
  • Types of resins.
  • Postprocessed.
  • Applications of 3D printing in orthodontics.

Goals: Know the different types of 3D printers, components and calibration of resins to obtain accurate models.

Practice: management of laminating software and printer calibration. It is recommended to attend with a laptop and a mouse.
